Michigan Fire Inspectors Society

Exchange, Encourage, and Educate in the Interest of Fire Protection

pubic Fire educator of the year 2017 - Stanley Barnes

fire inspector of the year 2017 - Richard Boisvert

Richard has been promoted through the ranks of Brighton Area Fire Authority from paid on call firefighter to a full-time Captain Fore Inspector with the organization. One of his accomplishments is the involvement in BAFA’s education of our apartment complex managers and building maintenance staff. The program has aided in a major reduction of our multi-family fires and aided in greater fire safety for the occupants. Captain Boisvert has been an asset and a resource to many of his peers throughout the area.

President's Award 2017 - KEVIN J. ABBASSE

Kevin was a two term President and long time member of the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society and was recently awarded Life Membership.  Besides serving on the MFIS Board of Directors he was an active member of the Education Planning Committee, Code Committee and the Summer Golf Outing which he chaired for many years. Kevin was one of the finest examples of a dedicated life safety advocate. His dedication was driven by his desire to help a colleague in need or a younger inspector learn the proper way to enforce the codes and standards we live by. He always had time for someone in need and served with honor.

Michigan Fire Inspectors Society is proud to honor our members and those who help MFIS meet our mission and goals.  We provide annual scholarships to burn survivors, members who wish to further their education,  and members who wish to add residential sprinklers to their homes.  We also honor a fire inspector and public educator each year through your nominations.
